The Friends of Human Relations of Santa Clara County is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 by Jim McEntee. (The Jim McEntee Legacy Committee is now completely incorporated into The Friends of Human Relations.) The mission of Friends today is to continue Jim’s vision and spirit in the community. The Friends board currently oversees the Jim McEntee Legacy Art Project, raises funds for the McEntee Legacy College Scholarship Awards, and serves as the fiscal agent for the County’s Office of Human Relations and the Institute for Nonviolence.
This year we will be awarding eight $1,500 scholarships to Santa Clara County community college students transferring with junior status to a four-year university. An additional $5,000 will be provided to those scholarship recipients with the greatest economic need.
Eight scholarships were awarded to students transferring to a four-year school for their junior year, and four scholarships were awarded to previous recipients.
