The Friends of Human Relations (FHR) of Santa Clara County is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 by Jim McEntee to support positive human relations in the County.  From its inception, FHR has worked to support and participate in community events and programs that promote peace, harmony, human rights and goodwill in all the diverse communities of the County.

After Jim McEntee’s sudden passing in 2004, The Jim McEntee Legacy Committee formed with a mission of commemorating, promoting, and continuing Jim’s lifetime commitment to peacemaking and social justice. The Legacy Committee soon became completely incorporated into The Friends of Human Relations.

The mission of the Friends of Human Relations today is to continue Jim’s vision and spirit in the community. The Friends board oversees the Jim McEntee Legacy Art Project, raises funds for the McEntee Legacy College Scholarship Awards, provides support to McEntee Scholarship recipients, and serves as the fiscal agent for the Institute for Nonviolence and for other community–based County departments and nonprofit organizations in need of fiscal agent services.
