The Friends of Human Relations is committed to to continuing to growing the number of students we support with Jim McEntee Legacy Scholarships. We offer scholarships each year to students transferring from a community college to a four year school as well as to previous scholarship recipients. . (While one-third of UC graduates and more than half of CSU graduates begin at community colleges, only 1% of financial aid for higher education is directed toward community college students.” SJMN 1-31-17, p B3) .
The Scholarship program was started in 2007, when we awarded one $1,000 scholarship. In 2012, we initiated what has become an annual Scholarship Fundraiser at MACLA and, thanks to our generous donors, the number of scholarship we provide has grown steadily. In 2017 we provided seventeen (17) $2,000 scholarships.

During this Season of great hardship for so many, we wish you all that is good and life affirming now and in the new year!
Thank you for your generous support of the 9th Annual Jim McEntee Scholarship Fundraiser. Though we cancelled our annual event this year, generous donors like you, made it possible for us to again award $36,000 to eighteen scholarship recipients transferring to a college or university to complete their undergraduate studies.
We’ll be hosting an exciting virtual Scholarship Fundraiser at Adobe, Inc. next Spring 2021! Thank you again for helping us to assist such hard working and outstanding students each year.
