Jim McEntee Legacy Scholarship: Past Recipients

The Jim McEntee Legacy Scholarship is awarded annually to Santa Clara County residents transferring as juniors from a Santa Clara County community college to a four year college or university. Special consideration is given to applicants who have faced financial and/or social obstacles in pursuing their education. We encourage a diverse applicant pool; past scholarship recipients have included Latinos, Asian/Pacific Islanders, GLBT students and undocumented immigrants.

2017 AWARDS

We awarded seventeen $2,000 scholarships, for a total of $34,000.

We awarded fifteen $2,000 scholarships, for a total of $30,000.

Kenny Gutierrez received support from the Jim McEntee Legacy Scholarship for two academic years.  Kenny transferred from San Jose City College to UC Berkeley.  He graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in Economics and a minor in Literature. He is currently working to earn money to enter law school.

2008 AWARDS

Jordan Bryant transferred from San Jose City College to Santa Clara University to pursue his goal of becoming a financial planner/educator in low-income communities.

2007 AWARD

Jessica Garcia, our first scholarship recipient, graduated from Gavilan Community College and transferred to SJSU to major in Recreation Administration.
