2012 Jim McEntee Legacy Scholarship Recipients

DIANA BUSTAMANTE graduated from West Valley Community College & transferred to SJSU to further study life and career options.  She plans to continue to work hard to become a great role model for her family and community.

PAULINE LUU graduated from De Anza College and transferred to UCLA. Pauline plans to work in the government sector after graduation, specializing in immigration work.

PHUONG THANH MAI graduated from San Jose City College and transferred to UCLA to study business & economics. She hopes to one day create jobs and opportunities for the disadvantaged.

LUCINA SANCHEZ, transferred from San Jose City College to Fresno State University and is receiving her second year of scholarship aid to pursue her dream of becoming a television journalist.

TOMMY STARKIEWICZ transferred from De Anza College to UC Berkeley. Tommy plans to study equity-based mathematics to find ways to make math accessible to students who usually are taken out of the equation. In addition, Tommy remains an active ally as part of the LGBTQ and AB540 communities.

YI TAO ZHAO graduated from De Anza College and transferred to Loma Linda University to pursue a nursing degree. He is an international student from China. His dream is to become an international nurse, so that he can help people in different countries that need help the most. Yi Tao hopes that he can “give the gracious love back and make his contribution to the community.”
