Board Member Richard Hobbs

Richard Hobbs is a private immigration attorney focusing on immigrant victims of crime, family-based immigration, deportation defense, citizenship, and employment visas. He has MA degrees from the University of Mexico in Mexico City (UNAM) and SJSU and a Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University. He co-authored a white paper on the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986 and since then served as the Director of the Catholic Charities Immigration Program, Director of Citizenship and Immigrant Programs of Santa Clara County, and founder and Executive Director of Services, Immigrant Rights and Education Network (SIREN) and Human Agenda. He is the Political Advocacy Chair of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and Moderator of Santa Clara County Move To Amend. Former Director of the Office of Human Relations of Santa Clara County, he also served for 16 years as an elected trustee on the San Jose-Evergreen Community College Board.
