Viviane Nguyen works at the City of San Jose Housing Department for the Rent Stabilization Program, specializing on developing rent control, just cause, development, and source of income anti-discrimination policies for tenants, owners, and developers. Prior to joining the Housing Department, Viviane was a fellow for the AmeriCorps program JusticeCorps, working at pro bono Housing Law Clinics to assist low-income residents facing evictions. She also has experience in disaster response and recovery, addressing the drought at the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research and flood at the City of San Jose Housing Department.
For her education, Viviane transferred from De Anza College, studied abroad in Bangkok, Thailand and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UC Berkeley. She is also an alumna of the programs: New Leaders Council Silicon Valley (NLC SV), Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA), and Asian Pacific American Islander Congressional Studies (APAICS).
During her free time, Viviane is developing a program called Project Transfers, a mentorship resource she created for community college transfers and young Southeast Asian professionals.
